Bring the classic motorsport tradition to your BMW G8X M2, M3, or M4 with the Porsche 917-style wood classic shift knob, precisely adapted for modern equipment by IND. First introduced on the IND G87 M2 project, this shift knob is now available as a complete package that requires no custom machining.
Although the original Porsche 917 knob is designed with an M8-1.25 thread, the BMW G8X models feature a press-fit design. To bridge this gap, IND has machined a custom aluminum sleeve with a durable black ceramic coating. The Porsche knob threads directly into this sleeve, providing BMW owners with a secure fit and OEM-quality feel.
A threaded shift lever is required for installation.
Customers can choose from the following options:
  • Custom OEM BMW shift lever (threaded)
  • Custom Rogue Engineering OCTANE short shift kit (threaded)
Once installed, the threaded shaft allows the Porsche 917-style knob to integrate seamlessly into the G8X, offering both an authentic tactile feel and the timeless look of vintage racing design.

Note:

  • The custom shift boot shown in the photos is not included. You will reuse your factory shift boot, which requires trimming for proper installation.

  • The sleeve is designed to attach directly to the shift boot, so no zip ties or similar fasteners are required.

Our entire product database is based on North American specification (USDM) vehicles, so please verify compatibility with Japanese specification (JDM) vehicles before ordering. If you place an order without confirming compatibility, we cannot accept returns due to fitment issues.
Please note that even if items are sorted by selecting the year, make, and model on our top page, this does not necessarily guarantee a direct, modification-free fit for Japanese-spec vehicles.

○ Regarding Shipping
Shipping costs are paid at the time of checkout. Shipping estimates are calculated automatically once you enter your shipping address on the checkout page. For large items like body parts, there may occasionally be a significant discrepancy between the automatically calculated shipping cost and the actual cost. In such cases, we will contact you via email separately.

All products are generally shipped internationally from our U.S. warehouse. Unlike domestic Japanese shipping, international shipping takes approximately 7 to 14 days, so please allow sufficient time for delivery. If you are in a rush, please contact us in advance to confirm delivery times. Note that all items are shipped via air freight; they are never shipped via sea freight.

○ Regarding Japanese Vehicle Inspection (Shaken) Compatibility
All products we carry are designed and manufactured outside of Japan. Please note that they are not compliant with the "Japanese Vehicle Inspection System," and we cannot provide strength evaluation documents or similar paperwork. Therefore, all parts are sold for "circuit use, private land, or off-road use only," and installation and use are at your own risk.

○ Regarding Warranty
Please inspect the contents of your package immediately upon arrival. Since all products are shipped internationally from outside Japan, there may occasionally be shipping damage to the packaging or the product itself. We will handle returns, refunds, or replacements for shipping damage, defective products, or incorrect items only if you notify us within 7 days of receipt. Please understand that for products sold through us, warranty support will be provided "exclusively through us." We do not provide support through other companies or distributors located within Japan.
