The Cobb Tuning Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Can) is placed within the Ford Mustang's crankcase ventilation system to prevent oil vapors from entering the intake system. The Cobb Tuning Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Can) features our unique design, which has been tuned and updated over many years to ensure seamless installation, the elimination of third-party emissions issues, and the perfect engine upgrade.< /p>
Since there is no optimal location to utilize on the Ford EcoBoost engine, we took the route of incorporating a spacer plate created with 33% glass-filled nylon to work with the factory breather plate. Injection molding ensures a perfect fit. The COBB oil drain plate is sandwiched between the stock air oil separator and the engine block. We use an additional OEM gasket provided by Cobb Tuning to maintain a leak-free interface with the engine block.
The Cobb Tuning Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Can) system is installed in series with the original PCV circuit, forcing air from the crankcase into a swirl pot and a series of baffles to facilitate the condensation and collection of heavy oil particles in the blow-by vapor. It exists as a liquid at the bottom of the canister. A drain line returns this condensed liquid oil to the crankcase.
By utilizing a drain-back system, this AOS kit keeps valves clean by removing oil particles from the PCV gases sent to the intake manifold, reducing the potential for detonation. This equates to a cleaner, more powerful engine that can produce more power with less maintenance and risk.
