This intake and integrated airbox combination looks great and offers the benefits of both a short-ram intake and a cold-air intake with no downsides. The system utilizes several unique features to maintain optimal flow for performance while minimizing turbulence that can cause engine management issues. It uses a CFD-designed velocity stack that leads to a custom conical cloth air filter element and a unique airflow straightener grid. This straightener grid is specifically designed to smooth the incoming airflow as it passes the mass airflow sensor for accurate readings. This eliminates "dead spots" caused by turbulence that are experienced in other aftermarket intakes. No other aftermarket intake system for the Subaru utilizes these critical design elements. To provide a system that looks as good as the technical advancements happening inside, we use an integrated design constructed from high-temperature plastic composite. This not only reduces weight compared to previous metal designs, but the plastic composite material offers much better heat-shielding properties to keep intake temperatures low. In contrast, intake systems constructed using metal castings or piping can actually retain under-hood heat, resulting in heated intake air.
The SF Airbox adds the benefits of a cold air intake to the superior performance of the SF Intake. The factory intake scoop directs cool air from the front grille into the SF Airbox surrounding the SF Intake. It prevents heat-soaking hot air from the engine bay from entering the intake system. This unique design also separates rainwater from the intake, eliminating the water ingestion problems that plague fender-well cold air intakes. Calibration - All aftermarket intakes for 2008+ Subarus require calibration to ensure the MAF sensor reads correctly and the engine operates within safe parameters. All products are generally shipped internationally from our US warehouse. Unlike domestic shipping within Japan, international shipping takes about 7 to 14 days, so please allow yourself plenty of time when ordering. If you are in a hurry, please contact us in advance to confirm delivery times. Note that all products are transported by air. Shipping by sea is not available.
○Regarding Japanese Vehicle Inspection (Shaken) Compatibility
All products we handle are designed and manufactured outside of Japan. Please be aware that they are not compliant with "Japanese vehicle inspection (Shaken) standards," and we are unable to provide technical strength documentation or similar paperwork for these systems. As all products are shipped internationally from outside Japan, there is a possibility of shipping damage to the packaging or the product.
