Brian Crower high performance camshafts are ground on state-of-the-art CNC cam grinders to ensure accuracy within 0.02mm and guaranteed tolerances. Every BC camshaft profile is prototyped and dyno-tested to prove horsepower results before being put into mass production. By grinding cores in volume, Brian Crower, Inc. is able to pass on the cost savings to the end user. Quality at an affordable price. At BC, we use a smaller diameter grinding wheel in the finishing stage when applicable to generate more aggressive ramp rates to increase cylinder fill velocity. More air + more fuel = more power. While it takes longer to grind a cam, R&D has proven that the inverse radius created by the smaller grinding wheel on the opening side produces more horsepower in radius and roller rocker applications than traditional large diameter grinding wheels. All BC cams are checked with sub-micron precision high-speed measuring gauges. The Adcole Camshaft Measuring System uses individual measuring heads for each cam journal and cam lobe, capturing one data point every 1/10th of a degree, or 3,600 data points per revolution, with 0.01-micron resolution. This model, which measures camshaft rise error and chatter detection, can measure 200 parts per hour. Camshafts designed for forced induction (turbo or supercharger) and mild nitrous use with a smooth idle. The short duration profile reduces overlap to increase cylinder pressure and achieves high lift to draw in more air.
