The D-series inline 4-cylinder engine was used in a variety of compact Honda models, most notably the 1995–2000 Honda Civic EX and the 1996–1997 del Sol Si in the United States. This engine was also found in the 1996–2000 Civic Si outside of Canada, and is labeled as the D16Y6 in New Zealand. The D16Y8 has a SOHC (Single Overhead Cam) design with a displacement of 1,590 cc. The factory redline is set at 6800 rpm, the rev limiter at 7200 rpm, and the VTEC switchover point at 5600 rpm. The factory compression ratio is 9.6:1, the cylinder bore size is 75 mm, and the crankshaft stroke is 90 mm.
