Stage 2+ Camshafts - Modified Engine Specs by Brian Crower
Brian Crower high-performance camshafts are ground on state-of-the-art CNC cam grinders to ensure accuracy and tolerances within 0.02mm. Every BC camshaft profile is prototyped and dyno-tested to prove horsepower results before being put into production. Brian Crower, Inc. is able to pass the cost savings on to the end user by grinding large volumes of cores. Quality at an affordable price. At BC, we use a smaller diameter grinding wheel in the finishing stage when applicable to produce more aggressive ramp speeds for increased cylinder fill rates. More air + more fuel = more power. While the cam grinding process takes longer, R&D has proven that the reverse radius created by the smaller grinding wheel on the opening side provides more horsepower in flat tappet and roller rocker applications than traditional large diameter grinding wheels. All BC cams are checked with sub-micron precision high-speed measurement gauges. The Adcole Camshaft Measurement System uses individual measuring heads for each cam journal and cam lobe, capturing one data point every 1/10th of a degree—3,600 data points per revolution—at a resolution of 0.01 microns. This model, which measures camshaft lift error and chatter detection, can measure 200 parts per hour. Camshafts designed for forced induction (turbo or supercharged) and mild nitrous use with a smooth idle. The short duration profile reduces overlap to increase cylinder pressure and achieves higher lift to draw in more air.
