The D-series inline 4-cylinder engine was used in various compact Honda models, most notably in the 1995–2000 Honda Civic EX and 1996–1997 Del Sol Si in the United States. Outside of Canada, this engine was also found in the 1996–2000 Civic Si, and in New Zealand, it is labeled the D16Y6. The D16Y8 features an SOHC (Single Overhead Cam) design with a displacement of 1,590cc. The factory redline is set at 6800 rpm, with a rev limit of 7200 rpm and a VTEC switchover point at 5600 rpm. The factory compression ratio is 9.6:1, the cylinder bore size is 75mm, and the crankshaft stroke is 90mm.
