Since 2009, standard turbo upgrades for the R35 Nissan GT-R have typically utilized the factory "turbofold" design, requiring machining of the housing to accommodate larger aftermarket turbo CHRAs. However, the downside of this method is that the stock manifold, optimized for compactness and packaging for factory power and boost levels, reveals its limitations once modified. Current stock-style turbo kits on the market often suffer from poor boost control, or in worse cases, excessive boost creep, which can prevent the use of standard 93-octane pump gas and necessitate a constant supply of high-octane race fuel. Following the introduction of the 2020 model year GT-R, the AMS Snailworks© engineering team successfully developed an optimized stock-location turbo kit by applying proprietary improvements to the factory two-piece manifold and turbine housing design. By independently casting the two-piece manifold and turbine housing, we have overcome all the weaknesses of the factory castings and eliminated the need for expensive core charges or machining wait times.

The AMS SnailWorks© engineering team has thoroughly refined the AMS Performance OMEGA 9 R35 GT-R Turbo Kit to achieve the highest levels of performance, quality, and ease of installation. By designing exhaust and intake paths as straight as possible, we have significantly improved the breathing efficiency of the VR38 engine. We engineered an improved wastegate and proprietary actuator rod to allow the TiAL MVI 2.5D wastegate to be mounted to the new turbo. Furthermore, we paid close attention to detail, pre-assembling the turbo's precise clock position and high-quality cooling and oil lines to support a leak-free installation.

The OMEGA turbo kit is designed to be a direct bolt-on without cutting or grinding your vehicle. It is fully compatible with factory options such as air conditioning and power steering, and can be easily returned to stock condition with just a few reasonable parts. The OMEGA turbo system for the R35 GT-R has been redesigned from the ground up, aiming to redefine GT-R aftermarket performance and become the most recognized and sought-after kit on the market.

Traditional R35 GT-Rs used a one-piece "turbofold" with an integrated turbine housing. While excellent for housing turbos in limited space, it makes upgrading to larger turbos extremely difficult. The 2020 model year adopted a two-piece structure to enable easier turbo replacement. The OMEGA turbo kit is the first aftermarket product on the market to utilize this two-piece design. With runners, collectors, and turbine housing designs optimized by the AMS SnailWorks© team, it achieves higher exhaust flow than the factory manifold.

One of the distinctive casting designs is the new wastegate port, which balances superior boost control with suppressed boost creep. With a 27% larger wastegate port that minimizes flow turbulence and a linear exhaust path design, it can supply exhaust efficiently to both the turbine and the wastegate. Furthermore, we built a robust turbo line using unique, special casting materials that are highly corrosion-resistant and durable even in extreme high-temperature environments.

The TD06H-20g has been a favorite among enthusiasts for many years. It combines excellent spool characteristics, power, and reliability. In this kit, we based the design on this TD06H CHRA and adopted a billet compressor wheel. This not only reduces weight to improve transient response but also improves aerodynamic characteristics, resulting in better spool and intake efficiency. The OMEGA 9 leverages proven turbo design while providing a cost-effective, high-output solution.

For further power gains, AMS-spec TD06H-based CHRAs feature proprietary surge-ported 94mm inlets and 54mm outlet compressor covers. Compared to the 3-inch covers or small factory 2-bolt covers used by many smaller turbos, this provides a significant increase in intake airflow. This is the greatest feature of the OMEGA turbo series. To reduce installation effort, oil and water lines are pre-installed on the CHRAs, and the compressor covers are properly clocked.
