To prevent power loss due to heat, the optional large airbox & duct ensure that cold air from in front of the radiator is channeled directly to the engine without escape. The inner diameter of each part is precisely matched to minimize air resistance to the turbine, contributing to gains in both horsepower and torque.
Large diameter is the key to power gains. Unconstrained by the small factory duct, AMS's optional airbox & duct are over 149% larger than stock to dramatically increase air supply. This enhances the ram-air effect and significantly lowers intake temperatures.
The silicone coupling connecting to the WRX turbo inlet is essential for smooth air delivery. Designed by the AMS Snailworks engineering team, the silicone minimizes joint disturbances and is optimized so the turbo can draw in air without restriction.
