PDF - 2016-2021 Honda Civic 1.5T Short Ram Intake System Installation Instructions (Big Bore)
Important Notes:
- Standard Bore MAF housings do not require calibration
- Big Bore MAF housings require MAF-specific calibration
- BIG BORE MAF basemap calibrations available for both HONDATA and KTUNER
- Compatible with PHEARABLE calibrations when selecting the Two-Step Performance "TSP" & "RACE MAF" options
Technical Notes:
If we could recommend an intake system for the 1.5L Turbo Civic platform, it would be the Cobra Cold Air Intake System. However, for customers who do not wish to run a CAI, the Short Ram Intake System is also an option. Our CNC-machined billet aluminum MAF housing is designed to provide *factory-spec fuel trims (within -4% of factory STFT and LTFT) for optimal drivability and performance. This SRI uses a 4-inch air filter and comes in your choice of two different MAF housings: Standard Bore and Big Bore. Both housings utilize the factory MAF sensor but feature two different diameters and profiles. As noted above, the Standard Bore housing is designed to provide factory-spec fuel trims without any tuning. The Big Bore housing requires tuning because it allows for 50% more airflow compared to the Standard Bore housing. This large volume of airflow reduces pumping losses and creates an unrestricted air path for supplying ambient temperature air to the MAF housing.
Customers can use the MAF Housing Conversion Kit
Customers can convert to a cold air intake using the Cold Air Intake Conversion Kit
Performance Gains:
- 15 HP and 12 ft/lbs torque increase over stock with Standard Bore MAF housing without tuning
- 20 HP and 15 ft/lbs torque increase over stock with Big Bore MAF housing using Big Bore MAF basemap calibration on Hondata or KTuner
- Greater gains seen at higher power levels with custom tuning

Before Ordering
〇 Regarding Import Consumption Tax
At Shaftoya shopping site, we pay the import consumption tax incurred during import on your behalf, so there are no additional charges other than the total amount paid at checkout.
〇Compatibility Check
Our entire product database is based on North American vehicles (USDM). Please check if the product can be installed on a Japanese vehicle (JDM) before ordering. (If you are unsure if the listed product fits your vehicle, please feel free to contact us. Our support team will be happy to look into it for you.)
If you place an order without confirming compatibility, we cannot accept returns due to incompatibility.
Please note that even if products are sorted by selecting the year, manufacturer, and vehicle model in the tabs on our top page, this does not necessarily mean they will fit Japanese model vehicles without modification.
All products have been translated into Japanese using translation software. As there may be confusing expressions, please contact us before ordering if you have any questions.
○ Regarding Shipping
Shipping costs are paid at the time of settlement. For shipping estimates, they will be automatically calculated when you enter your shipping address on the checkout page. For large items such as body parts, the actual shipping cost may occasionally differ significantly from the automatic calculation. In such cases, we will contact you individually via email.

○ Regarding Japanese Vehicle Inspection (Shaken) Compatibility
Basically, all products we handle are designed and manufactured outside of Japan. Please note that they are not compliant with the "Japanese Vehicle Inspection System," and we cannot provide strength evaluation documents or similar items for the Japanese inspection system. Therefore, all parts are sold for the purpose of "use on circuits, private property, or off-road," and installation and use are at your own risk.
