Chase Bays Power Steering Kit for 1992-1999 BMW E36
The Chase Bays Power Steering Kit for the BMW E36 is designed to solve the common issues of leaking, fluid overflow, and overheating found in the factory power steering system, while improving aesthetics, durability, and stealth. It is a 100% full upgrade, replacing everything from the reservoir and hoses to the fittings on the pump and rack with A.N. fittings.
At the core of this kit is the Chase Bays highly engineered triple-baffled power steering reservoir, which prevents aeration and fluid overflow. An optional black aluminum heat sink cooler is available, designed to mount to the upper core support (see photos) for easier installation and improved airflow. At Chase Bays, we use only the highest quality components available. Our reservoir is constructed from 6061 aluminum and black anodized with a laser-etched cap. The reservoir itself uses a Delrin shim bracket, allowing you to conveniently utilize the OE BMW reservoir mounting location.
Countless hours of R&D went into this modern power steering reservoir. It is not as simple as welding two fittings onto a fluid container and calling it a day; it is far more complex. The smaller fitting on the reservoir is the return line from the rack, which can send fluid back at pressures up to 120psi. When that hits the fluid in the reservoir, it can cause extreme foaming and aeration if not properly slowed down and directed. The higher the engine RPM and steering input, the higher that pressure becomes. This is also a common cause of fluid overflowing from the cap during hard use; most people mistake this for the fluid boiling, but in most cases, it is simply turbulence.
In the photos of the reservoir, you will see a "chimney" inside; there is a multi-layered design within this chimney. While Chase Bays won't reveal all our secrets, just know that you will not experience aeration or overflow issues. Between track testing and computational fluid dynamics, we were able to slow the fluid velocity down from 120 psi to 12 psi within 2 inches of movement. That is just one of the two problems solved, but it doesn't end there.
Since the power steering system is a looped hydraulic system, it must be vented. The cap features a proprietary baffle design that prevents fluid from being pushed out through the vent. Go to any road race, drift, or rally event and look at every factory (and most aftermarket) power steering reservoir; by the end of the day, you will see overflow all around the reservoir. Their goal was to make a reservoir that doesn't overflow—a 1 in 100 reservoir. Chase Bays can proudly say: that goal has been achieved.
Please note: For E36s swapped with 1/2JZ-GTE only, this will not fit standard E36 options. You must change the power steering pump to something other than the 2JZ-GTE VVTi pump. The factory variable pressure pump causes unsafe steering anomalies.

If you order without confirming compatibility, we cannot accept returns due to incompatibility.

Shipping costs are paid at the time of checkout. Shipping quotes are automatically calculated once you enter your shipping address on the checkout page. For large items such as body parts, the automatically calculated shipping cost may rarely differ significantly from the actual cost. In such cases, we will contact you individually via email.
All products are generally shipped internationally from our US warehouse. Unlike domestic Japanese shipping, international shipping takes about 7 to 14 days, so please allow plenty of time for your order. If you are in a hurry, please contact us to confirm the delivery date in advance. Please note that all products are transported by air. They are not shipped by sea freight.
〇 Regarding Japanese Vehicle Inspection (Shaken) Compatibility
All products we handle are designed and manufactured outside of Japan. Please note that they are not compliant with "Japanese Vehicle Inspection (Shaken) standards," and we cannot provide strength calculation documents or similar paperwork for the Japanese inspection system. Therefore, all parts are sold for "circuit, private property, or off-road use only," and installation and usage are at your own risk.

Please check the contents of your order immediately upon arrival. As all products are shipped internationally from outside of Japan, there may be shipping damage to the packaging or the product itself. We will only provide returns, refunds, or replacements for damaged items, defective products, or incorrect items if notified within 7 days of receipt. Please note that for products sold through our company, all warranty-related support will be handled "exclusively through us." We do not provide support through other companies or distributors within Japan.
