Stage 2 Camshaft - Street/Strip Spec by Brian Crower
Brian Crower high-performance camshafts are ground on state-of-the-art CNC cam grinders to ensure accuracy and tolerances within 0.02mm. Every BC camshaft profile is prototyped and dyno-tested to prove horsepower results before being released for production. Brian Crower, Inc. is able to pass cost savings on to the end user by grinding large volumes of cores. Quality at an affordable price. At BC, we use smaller diameter grinding wheels during the finishing stage where applicable to generate more aggressive ramp rates for increased cylinder fill velocity. More air + more fuel = more power. While cam grinding takes longer, R&D has proven that the inverse radius created by the smaller grinding wheel on the opening side produces more horsepower in flat tappet and roller rocker applications than traditional large diameter grinding wheels. All BC cams are checked on high-speed measuring gauges with sub-micron precision. The Adcole camshaft measurement system uses individual measuring heads for each cam journal and cam lobe, taking one data point every 1/10 of a degree—3,600 data points per revolution—with 0.01-micron resolution. This model, which measures camshaft lift error and chatter detection, can measure 200 parts per hour. Camshafts designed for forced induction (turbo or supercharger) and mild nitrous use with a smooth idle. The short duration profile increases cylinder pressure by reducing overlap, and utilizes high lift to intake more air.
