The rubber bushings used in the G8X rear upper arms are the final weak point in an otherwise rigid suspension. The factory BMW bushings are prone to deflection, which causes changes in camber and toe, making them less than ideal for performance driving. The Fall Line kit replaces the soft factory upper control arm bushings with spherical bearings, smoothing out the movement of the rear suspension arms and improving stability at the rear of the vehicle. By minimizing geometry changes, the car maintains proper alignment and allows for better control of tire behavior under high loads. BMW M models feature subframes that are bolted directly to the chassis by BMW M to reduce suspension compliance, thereby improving performance and driving feel.
Similarly, Fall Line upper control arm bearings secure the suspension arms firmly to the subframe, increasing driver feedback, suppressing geometry changes, and enhancing performance. Please be aware that while the Fall Line rear upper control arm bearings significantly improve performance, the elimination of suspension bushings will result in an increase in road and suspension noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).
