The Cobb Tuning Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Tank) is placed within the Ford Focus crankcase ventilation system to prevent oil vapor from entering the intake system. The Cobb Tuning Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Tank) is our own proprietary design, which has been tuned and updated over the years to ensure seamless installation, the removal of third-party emissions, and a perfect engine upgrade.< /p>
Since there is no ideal place to utilize it on Ford's EcoBoost engine, we took the route of incorporating the factory breather plate with a spacer plate made of 33% glass-filled nylon. It fits perfectly through injection molding. The COBB oil drain plate is sandwiched between the original air oil separator and the engine block. An additional Cobb Tuning-supplied OEM gasket is used to maintain a leak-free interface with the engine block.
The Cobb Tuning Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Tank) system is installed in series with the original PCV circuit, forcing air from the crankcase into a swirl pot and a series of baffles to promote condensation and collection of heavy oil particles in the blow-by vapor. It exists as a liquid at the bottom of the canister. A drain line returns this condensed liquid oil to the crankcase.
By utilizing a drain-back system, this AOS kit keeps valves clean by removing oil particles from the PCV gases sent to the intake manifold, reducing the potential for detonation. This equates to a cleaner, more powerful engine that can deliver more power with less maintenance and risk.
The Cobb Tuning Ford EcoBoost Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Tank) prevents crankcase oil vapor from recirculating through the engine's intake system.
Oil vapor passing through the engine's intake system lowers the effective octane rating of the fuel and can lead to both oil and carbon buildup over time.
