- While compatible with the factory intercooler, we recommend installing it in conjunction with the PRL Motorsports Billet Intercooler Upgrade for more effective performance gains.
Technical Notes:
This intercooler charge pipe upgrade kit creates smoother airflow with a larger-diameter cold-side pipe to increase airflow capacity, while using a factory-diameter hot-side pipe to assist with turbocharger spooling.
Silicone hoses are used alongside aluminum piping to reduce heat conduction. Compared to steel or aluminum, silicone has extremely low thermal conductivity, which helps lower the temperature of the compressed air.
Factory rubber hoses easily expand under boost. Furthermore, as they age, the rubber loses its rigidity, which can lead to boost leaks and the intake of secondary air. Additionally, because PRL's own demo car experienced melted factory rubber hoses during track driving, we have adopted 4-ply silicone hoses designed for high-temperature and high-pressure applications.
Furthermore, the custom-molded silicone hoses provide significantly higher airflow compared to the bends found in aluminum pipes.
Since the factory rubber hoses interfered when combined with aftermarket radiators, PRL's silicone hoses are laid out to accommodate the installation of aftermarket radiators.
