Powerful and reliable recovery points are essential for off-road driving, yet the lack of industry standards for rated tow points has caused long-standing confusion among 4WD users. With this in mind, ARB set out to establish industry benchmarks for how 4WD users design, test, and select recovery points. These challenges include questionable, untested mounting positions, confusion regarding the selection of rated shackles and straps, and issues with universal tow points that cannot safely handle the stresses generated by angled pulls. ARB makes it easy for every customer to find the right recovery point through an engineered recovery train, in which vehicle-specific recovery points are designed to accommodate the use of a 4.75t rated bow shackle and a 17,600 lb (approx. 7,983 kg) snatch strap.
