Camshaft Stage 2 Boost - Forced Induction Spec by Brian Crower
Brian Crower high-performance camshafts are ground on state-of-the-art CNC cam grinders, ensuring accuracy and tolerances within 0.02mm. Every BC camshaft profile is prototyped and dyno-tested to prove horsepower results before being released for mass production. By grinding cores in volume, Brian Crower, Inc. can pass the cost savings on to the end user. Quality at an affordable price. At BC, we use a smaller diameter grinding wheel in the finish stage when applicable to generate a more aggressive ramp rate to increase cylinder fill velocity. More air + more fuel = more power. While cam grinding takes more time, research and development has proven that the inverse radius created by a smaller grinding wheel on the opening side provides more horsepower in radius and roller rocker applications than traditional large-diameter grinding wheels. Every BC cam is checked with high-speed measuring gauges with sub-micron precision. The Adcole camshaft measuring system uses individual measuring heads for each cam journal and cam lobe, taking one data point every 1/10th of a degree—3,600 data points per rotation—with 0.01-micron resolution. This model measures camshaft lift error and chatter detection and can measure 200 parts per hour. Camshafts designed for forced induction (turbo or supercharger) and mild nitrous use with a smooth idle. The short duration profile reduces overlap to increase cylinder pressure and achieves high lift to intake more air.
