Hydro Handbrake Line Kit 1992 - 2006 BMW 3 Series (E36 / E46)
The Chase Bays Hydro Handbrake Line Kit is designed for those who want to easily install a hydraulic handbrake in their BMW 3 Series E36 or E46 chassis. It is available in two variations:
Standalone Type - Pairs with a dual rear caliper setup or a standalone rear brake system. It connects directly from the handbrake master cylinder to the secondary calipers on the rear knuckles. We use bulkhead fittings to pass through the chassis metal, ensuring there is no extra path for smoke or weather to enter the cabin.
Inline / Pass-Through Type - Plumbs into your existing rear brake lines to lock the existing rear calipers on both sides. It starts at the factory master cylinder, or if you have the Chase Bays Brake Line Relocation for Brake Booster Eliminator, it starts at the bias valve OUT port. In either scenario, it then proceeds to the handbrake IN side. Finally, it flows from the handbrake OUT section through the rear of the car directly to the calipers. At Chase Bays, we use bulkhead fittings to pass through the chassis metal so there is no extra path for smoke or weather to enter the cabin.

- Chassis Fitment Notes: BMW E36 varies by year for the Inline Hydro Handbrake Line Kit between 1992–1994 and 1995–1999. Early models are equipped with a single brake hardline from the M10x1.0 ABS port to the rear of the car, whereas later models are equipped with two rear hardlines from the M12x1.0 and M10x1.0 ABS ports. The only exception is the early 1995 M3 and Compact (TI) models which use a single rear hardline. These are the ports that connect to the Inline/Single Rear Caliper Handbrake Line Kit. If you are unsure, follow the rear brake lines under your car to see if they are single or dual.
- Bulkhead Placement: The E36 and E46 drilling locations for the bulkhead for Inline and Standalone Hydro Handbrake Line Kits are at least 24 inches apart and 1–2 inches rearward from the start of the flat section behind the rear seat. See the third product photo for an example of bulkhead placement. Check the installation photos for the product in this listing. Be careful not to drill into the fuel filler neck, as it is also located in this area.

Shipping costs are paid at the time of checkout. Shipping estimates are calculated automatically once you enter your shipping address on the checkout page. In principle, all products are shipped internationally from our US warehouse. Unlike domestic shipping in Japan, international shipping takes approximately 7 to 14 days, so please allow ample time when ordering. If you are in a hurry, please contact us in advance to confirm delivery times. Note that all products are transported by air. They are never shipped by sea freight.

They are not compliant with the "Japanese Vehicle Inspection System," and we cannot provide strength calculation documents or similar paperwork for the Japanese vehicle inspection system. Please check the contents immediately upon arrival. As all products are shipped internationally from outside Japan, there may be shipping damage to the packaging or the product itself. Please understand that we will only provide returns, refunds, or replacement exchanges if you contact us within 7 days of receipt regarding products with shipping damage, defective products, or items different from your order.
