The Chase Bays Power Steering Kit for the Subaru WRX STI is designed to solve the leaking, fluid spilling, and overheating issues of the factory power steering while improving aesthetics, durability, and stealth. This is a 100% complete upgrade featuring A.N. fittings to replace the factory reservoir and hoses, from the reservoir to the pump and the rack.
The core of this kit is the Chase Bays highly engineered triple-baffled power steering reservoir (anti-aeration and anti-spill). It optionally comes with an upgraded black aluminum heat sink cooler that mounts to the upper core support (see photo) for easy installation and enhanced airflow. Chase Bays uses only the highest quality components available. Our reservoirs are constructed from 6061 aluminum, black anodized, and feature a laser-etched cap.
Countless hours of R&D went into this state-of-the-art power steering reservoir. It’s not as simple as just putting two fittings on a fluid container and calling it a day; it is far more complex. The smaller fitting on the reservoir is the fluid return from the rack, which can be sent back at pressures up to 120psi. When that hits the fluid in the reservoir, it can create extreme foaming/aeration unless it is properly slowed down and directed. The higher the steering input and RPMs, the higher the pressure. This is also a common cause of fluid spilling from the cap during frequent use. When this happens, most people think the fluid is boiling, but in most cases, it is simply turbulence.
In the photos of the reservoir, you can see a "chimney" inside, and within this chimney is a multi-layered design. Chase Bays won't reveal all our secrets, but know that you will not experience aeration or spilling issues. Between track testing and computational fluid dynamics, we were able to slow the fluid down from 120 psi to 12 psi within 2 inches of movement. And that is just two of the problems we solved; the list goes on.
Because power steering is a looped hydraulic system, it must be vented. The cap features a proprietary baffled design that prevents fluid from being pushed out of the vent. Go to any road racing, drift, or rally event and look at all the factory (and most aftermarket) power steering reservoirs. By the end of the day, you will see spills all over them. Their goal is to have one in 100 reservoirs be spill-free. Chase Bays can proudly say: that goal has been achieved.

In principle, all products are shipped internationally from our U.S. warehouse. Unlike domestic Japanese shipping, international shipping takes approximately 7 to 14 days, so please allow yourself enough time when ordering. If you are in a hurry, please contact us in advance to confirm delivery times. Note that all items are transported via air freight; they are not shipped via sea freight.
○ Regarding Japanese Vehicle Inspection (Shaken) Compatibility
All products we handle are designed and manufactured outside of Japan. Please understand that they do not conform to "Japanese vehicle inspection standards," and we cannot provide documents such as strength calculation reports for Japanese inspection purposes. Therefore, all parts are sold for the purpose of "use on circuits, private property, or off-road," and installation and use are at your own risk.
