This elasticity is the major difference between a snatch strap and a tow strap. ARB snatch straps are designed to stretch under load, whereas tow straps do not. This elasticity provides two key benefits. First, the kinetic energy generated by the stretch assists in the recovery process. Second, the elasticity significantly reduces the potential for vehicle damage during recovery. The immense weight of a 4x4 vehicle combined with the resistance caused by the situation in which it is stuck places a heavy load on the strap's attachment points; without this elasticity, the risk of damaging the vehicle increases. For vehicle recovery, a snatch strap is more suitable than a tow strap.
