Strong and reliable recovery points are essential for off-road driving, yet the lack of industry standards for rated recovery points has caused long-standing confusion among 4WD drivers. With this in mind, ARB is setting a benchmark in the industry for the design, testing, and selection of recovery points. The ARB recovery point range addresses the issues with universal recovery points and their unsuitability for various recovery scenarios. These issues include questionable and untested mounting locations, confusion regarding the selection of rated shackles and straps, and the limitations of universal recovery points in safely handling the stresses generated by angled pulls during vehicle recovery. Through an engineered "recovery train," ARB clarifies that each vehicle-specific recovery point can be used with a 4.75-tonne rated bow shackle and an 8,000kg (17,600 lbs) snatch strap, striving to make it easy for individual customers to find the optimal recovery point.
