The BP-51 (Bypass 51mm bore) series of high-performance bypass shock absorbers is the result of an exhaustive development process aimed at achieving the ultimate in comfort and control. Designed, developed, and tested entirely in-house by ARB’s Old Man Emu ride engineering team, BP-51 shock absorbers are vehicle-specific and utilize existing mounting points for easy installation without the need for additional vehicle modifications. While most other adjustable shock absorbers only allow for compression adjustment, the BP-51 series allows for independent adjustment of both rebound and compression while the shocks are installed on the vehicle, providing class-leading ride customization tailored to individual vehicles and driving conditions. In addition to the velocity-sensitive damping used in most shock absorbers (where higher damping is produced at higher piston speeds), BP-51 shock absorbers also generate damping based on piston position within the shock body due to their bypass design. While most shock absorbers only generate damping via fluid passing through the piston, the BP-51 also features an alternative path for fluid to travel from one chamber to another via bypass passages around the piston. The combination of fluid passing through the piston and through the bypass passages delivers the best of both worlds: a comfortable, smooth ride during normal driving, and highly controlled handling on more demanding terrain. All BP-51 shock absorbers are manufactured in-house to ensure the highest quality. The shock bodies are made of aircraft-grade 6061 anodized aluminum, offering superior heat dissipation and corrosion resistance compared to steel or alloy steel.
