Manufactured to the same uncompromising standards as our bumpers, ARB tire carriers incorporate a heavy-duty towing system and can accommodate one or two tires, or a jerry can holder, depending on the vehicle model. There are many advantages to mounting a tire carrier on your vehicle. In many 4x4 vehicles, the spare tire is located under the vehicle, making it difficult to access and susceptible to damage, especially in harsh off-road environments. In other cases, the spare tire is mounted on the rear door, which puts stress on the door hinges, leading to rattling, reduced dust sealing performance, and increased wear on the door assembly. Both of these mounting methods may also be unsuitable when opting for larger tire sizes. ARB tire carriers address all of these issues by relocating the spare tire to the bumper assembly via a swing-out carrier. Operating the swing-out carrier is very simple. A light pull on the lever, assisted by a gas strut, opens each carrier. The strut holds the carrier in the open position, and the locking pin only needs to be engaged if the vehicle is at an extreme side angle. The carrier is closed with a simple slam-shut mechanism, and the spring-loaded locking pin automatically disengages once the weight is released.
