The Cobb Tuning Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Can) is placed within the Ford Focus crankcase ventilation system to prevent oil vapors from entering the intake system. The Cobb Tuning Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Can) features our unique design, refined and updated over years to ensure seamless installation, the removal of third-party emissions, and a perfect upgrade for your engine.< /p>
Because the Ford EcoBoost engine lacks an ideal location to utilize, we took the route of incorporating the factory breather plate with a spacer plate made of 33% glass-filled nylon. Injection molding ensures a perfect fit. The COBB oil drain plate is sandwiched between the stock air oil separator and the engine block. An additional Cobb Tuning-supplied OEM gasket is used to maintain a leak-free interface with the engine block.
The Cobb Tuning Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Can) system is installed in series with the original PCV circuit, forcing air from the crankcase into a swirl pot and a series of baffles to promote the condensation and collection of heavy oil particles in the blow-by vapor. It exists as a liquid at the bottom of the canister. A drain line returns this condensed liquid oil to the crankcase.
Utilizing a drain-back system, this AOS kit keeps valves clean by removing oil particles from the PCV gases sent to the intake manifold, reducing the potential for detonation. This equates to a cleaner, more powerful engine that can produce more power with less maintenance and risk.
The Cobb Tuning Ford EcoBoost Air Oil Separator (Oil Catch Can) prevents crankcase oil vapors from recirculating through the engine's intake system.
Oil vapor passing through the engine's intake system lowers the effective octane rating of the fuel and can cause both oil and carbon to build up over time.
