The GT86 Front Position Rack V2 Lock Kit is made of high-strength steel. Although slightly heavier than the V1 kit, it is stronger, stiffer, has more adjustment options, and features improved kinematics. Due to the boxer engine, the original steering rack position was very unsuitable for drifting. Therefore, the steering rack has been moved in front of the crossmember, allowing for the use of preferred rear-sump engines. The main advantage of the front steering rack position is a more precise steering feel at large angles, making the car easier to handle in extreme situations. A BMW E9X or Lexus LS (UCF30) steering rack is required for use with this kit to replace the original electric power steering.

Recommended alignment parameters are as follows:
Toe: 2mm out if Ackermann is 0 or negative. 0 if Ackermann is positive
Camber: -6
Caster: 5.5
- Steering angle available is 65 degrees or more
- Adjustable Ackermann angle. You can adjust the steering geometry to positive or negative Ackermann in just a few minutes without disturbing the alignment. Ackermann adjustment washers are included in the kit.
- Knuckles and control arms are made of high-tensile steel. To achieve maximum precision, all parts are machined after welding.
- CrMo rod ends and sphericals used instead of OEM bushings
- Improved roll center (RC)
The knuckles allow the ball joints to sit lower, raising the front RC on lowered cars and increasing roll stiffness. This allows you to remove the front anti-roll bar (stabilizer), which can be very difficult to package when steering angles are large. - Excellent camber control and minimal bump steer at high steering angles.
Dynamic camber control and bump steer are much more important for a drift car than static camber control. Our kinematics ensure that the camber provides excellent front grip and that bump steer is kept to a minimum throughout the steering range. - Steering jacking control
When drifting, jacking increases as the steering angle increases, which can be problematic with the same geometry. We have changed the geometry in a way that avoids operational issues. - Consistent and predictable self-aligning torque.
Caster is not the only important parameter for providing sufficient self-aligning torque, especially at high lock. It is a combination of various parameters to maintain consistent trail and self-aligning torque. With this setup, the steering wheel always rotates in the direction of travel and will not get stuck at full lock.

Additional information:
- BMW and Lexus steering rack attachments and crossmember inserts are included in the kit. Modifying the crossmember requires DIY cutting and welding. Please be sure to follow the installation manual.
- This kit assumes coilovers with sufficient clearance.
- Depending on rim width and ET, wider fenders or fender flares will be required.
- As the Subaru BRZ engine bay is very wide, we recommend using tires 605 mm or smaller (215/40R17, 225/40R17, 225/35R18, 235/35R18).
- If the tire diameter is up to 635 mm (e.g., 215/45R17, 225/45R17, 235/40R17, 225/40R18) and the car is lowered, minor modifications to the inner wheel wells will be necessary.
- 18-inch rims are recommended, though 17-inch may also fit.
- Depending on rim diameter, the recommended backspace is 150–160 mm (7-inch ET45, 8-inch ET35, 9-inch ET25). If the ET is smaller, the wheel will sit further out; if the ET is larger, spacers will need to be installed.
