The incredible potential of Toyota's factory twin-turbo 2JZ-GTE engine has made it the engine of choice for the fastest sport compact drag cars. It is also used in drifting due to its rear-wheel-drive configuration. The 3.0-liter inline-six is not only capable of producing incredible power, but it has also proven to be extremely reliable. Produced from 1994 to 1998, the 2JZ-GTE was used in the Supra Mk IV chassis. The name is a combination of Celica and Supra. "Celica" is derived from Latin, and literally translates to "heavenly" or "from the heavens." "Supra" is a term derived from Latin, meaning "above, over, beyond, or surpassing." Therefore, when translated into English, the entire term would be something like "from Above the Heaven."
