2022+ Subaru WRX Air Oil Separator by Perrin
The PERRIN Air Oil Separator prevents oil from entering the intake tract by capturing oil from the crankcase vents. This reduces carbon buildup, improves intercooler efficiency, and lowers the risk of detonation which can decrease performance.
The PERRIN Air Oil Separator is not a catch can. Catch cans capture engine blow-by and store it in a container, which must be monitored and emptied every few hundred miles. The Air Oil Separator separates oil from the air and drains the oil back into the engine, eliminating the need for constant monitoring and draining. Once the oil is drained from the bottom of the PERRIN Air Oil Separator, clean, oil-free air exits the top and returns to the intake tract.
The PERRIN Air Oil Separator features swirl pot technology and multi-layer baffles. This design causes incoming engine blow-by to move rapidly across the baffles, separating the oil from the blow-by. Multiple baffle layers increase the surface area for collecting more oil, resulting in a compact and efficient design.
Oil entering from the crankcase vents rotates counter-clockwise through the AOS body, passing along four walls that equate to approximately 50 square inches of surface area. The multiple baffle walls in our compact design simulate the surface area of a 13.5-inch tall AOS.
The base plate of the Air Oil Separator is heated by engine coolant. This heats the entire Air Oil Separator to the same temperature as the engine blow-by. By keeping the Air Oil Separator at the same temperature as the blow-by, water condensation is significantly reduced, allowing oil, air, and water vapor to separate and pass through the body.
This critical feature eliminates almost all sludge that can accumulate in the Air Oil Separator body, a common problem with catch cans and other air oil separators.
The PERRIN Air Oil Separator increases intercooler efficiency by reducing the amount of oil deposited in the intercooler and intake system. When blow-by/oil accumulates inside the intercooler, it becomes harder for heat to transfer from the engine, reducing intercooler efficiency. This can lead to power loss and detonation, potentially damaging the engine.
It reduces carbon buildup in the combustion chamber, intake valves, and intake tract. Crankcase blow-by is recirculated into the intake and drawn into the engine, where it clogs the intake tract, intake valves, and intercooler. This accumulates over time, causing power loss and extra wear on valves.
The low-profile aluminum fittings included with the PERRIN Air Oil Separator are CNC-machined and black-anodized for a clean, sophisticated look and corrosion resistance. These rugged and durable fittings are designed and finished to last the life of your vehicle.
Instead of using universal fittings, we designed dedicated crankcase fittings that perform their role perfectly. Like the Air Oil Separator body itself, the drain fitting is threaded to accept virtually any type of fitting, making it easy to customize for special projects.
Our unique crankcase vent fitting positions the AOS perfectly to maintain ideal temperatures without interfering with aftermarket TMICs, FMICs, charge pipes, master cylinder braces, or cold air intakes.
The PERRIN turbo sump pump restrictor included with the PERRIN Air Oil Separator for the 2015-2023 WRX solves oil burning issues associated with turbo-back exhausts or Stage 2+ tunes.
It is powder-coated to protect against the elements, and the finish will stay looking great for years. The PERRIN Air Oil Separator is available in black, red, or neon yellow powder coat.
Subaru EJ engines have three crankcase-type vents in the valve covers and the center of the engine block. Subaru FA engines have two crankcase vent locations, both on the engine block. Each PERRIN Air Oil Separator is designed to connect to each of these individually without the need for T-connections. This improves ventilation and reduces the chance of oil being sucked in during high-G cornering (a common problem in flat-type or boxer engines).

All products are generally shipped internationally from our US warehouse. Unlike domestic shipping in Japan, international shipping takes about 7 to 14 days, so please allow yourself plenty of time when ordering.
