Manufactured to the same uncompromising standards as ARB bumpers, every ARB tire carrier features a heavy-duty towing system and, depending on the vehicle model, can accommodate one or two tires, or a jerry can holder. There are many advantages to fitting a tire carrier to your vehicle. Many 4x4 vehicles have the spare tire mounted under the vehicle, making it difficult to access and at risk of damage, especially in harsh off-road environments. Other vehicles have the spare tire mounted on the rear door, which puts a strain on the door hinges and can lead to rattles, a reduction in the effectiveness of the seals that keep out dust, and accelerated wear on the door assembly. These mounting methods may also be unsuitable if you wish to fit larger tire sizes. ARB tire carriers solve all of these problems by moving the spare tire to the bumper assembly via a swing-out carrier. Operation of the swing-out carrier is very simple; a light pull on the lever activates the gas strut to open it. The strut holds the carrier in the open position, and the locking pin only needs to be operated when on a steep incline. Closing the carrier is easily done with a light nudge, and the spring-loaded locking pin releases automatically once the weight is lifted.
