It isn't as simple as just welding two fittings onto a fluid container and calling it a day; it is much more complex than that. The smaller fitting on the reservoir is the return line from the rack. It can send fluid back at pressures of up to 120psi. If you don't properly slow that down and direct it when it hits the fluid inside the reservoir, it can cause extreme aeration (foaming). The harder you steer and the higher the RPM, the higher that pressure becomes. This is also a common cause of fluid spilling from the cap during frequent use. When this happens, most people assume the fluid is boiling, but in most cases, it is simply turbulence.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003eWe spent a massive amount of engineering time on the internal design to completely nullify this aeration and overflow. The performance of this power steering reservoir is highly rated by our customers. In the reservoir photo, you can see a \"chimney\" inside; there is a multi-layer design within this chimney. While we can't reveal all our secrets, just know that you won't experience aeration or overflow issues. Between track testing and Computational Fluid Dynamics, we were able to decelerate 120 psi to 12 psi with 2 inches of fluid movement. There are only two problems, but it doesn't end there.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp align=\"justify\"\u003eSince power steering is a looped hydraulic system, it must be vented. The cap features a proprietary baffle design that prevents fluid from being pushed out through the vent. Go to a road racing, drifting, or rally event and look at every factory (and most aftermarket) power steering reservoir. By the end of the day, you will see fluid spilled all around the reservoir. Our goal was to be the one reservoir in a hundred that doesn't leak.
